Individual Counseling: I can work with you to understand your specific emotional and/or health concerns. Together we’ll create goals for addressing those concerns, and I will help guide you through the steps necessary to achieve your goals.

Couple Counseling: Couples in any type or stage of a relationship can benefit from exploring their concerns, disagreements, and interpersonal styles. I can help you learn new ways to communicate and resolve disagreements, as well understand and accept each other’s experience within your relationship.

Group Seminars: Seminars give groups of 6 to 8 individuals a chance to meet and explore information on a specific topic, often related to a health concern. Though seminars are not the same as group therapy, they do involve therapeutic aspects, including the development of stress management skills and group support. I currently offer seminars for persons with breast cancer, other cancers, chronic illness, and chronic pain. Additional topics can be offered if there is sufficient interest.

When You Have Health Concerns: How a Psychologist Can Help

Good medical care is an essential first step in the treatment of chronic illness or pain. Even with the best medical care, however, illness and pain can change your life and the lives of your loved ones, often adding stress that does not resolve with just the passage of time.

Your daily life changes when you have to deal with illness and pain. Your job and finances are affected, your roles among family and friends are impacted, and simple tasks you used to take for granted become a challenge. A psychologist can help recommend strategies and guide you through these lifestyle changes, including new diets, exercise, and healthy life habits. Most importantly, we can teach you pain management and stress management skills that can have a profound effect on your physical and psychological comfort.
